Easter

I bought a new camera last month and have been trying to teach myself to use it - Easter gave me a great excuse to pull it out and try it on my family. This is my photo essay our our Saturday.

Miss M has an obsession with Dora the Explorer - she's been known to wake up in the middle of night shouting for Dora. This made finding an Easter gift easy for me - I went with what I know she loves, Dora, music and books (I can tell she's related to me.) As you can see from the applause, the book was a hit.

Grandpa-Great came to the city for Easter and got to play referee between Miss M and Sadie. M loves Sadie, but Sadie can't be trusted yet to always return her love gently.

Imagine our surprise when, in the middle of our BBQ, a momma duck and her 15 babies marched into the back yard. They stayed and visited until one of the dogs noticed and reminded the ducks that it was her backyard.

Grandpa and Miss M watched as the ducks made their way back down the block to their home pond.

Miss M didn't need any training to understand how the Easter Egg hunt worked, she ran all over the yard quickly filling her bucket.

Generous girl that she is, she offered to share some of her egg booty with her Auntie.

And, she easily talked her grandma into helping her get the candy out.

Next on the agenda, it was time for the adults to get to work, putting together the swing set grandma and grandpa gave our little outdoor girl.

As always, Miss M was ready to help - but only if it meant she didn't need to put her eggs down.

Before the first two piece were put together, Miss M figured out which part was the slide and made sure she was the first one to give it a try.

After a few mix ups and redos the swing set was ready and Miss M was on the run to give it a try.

The first slide down was the perfect end to an amazing Easter.

I've loved this song, "Rainbow Connection" for as long as I can remember, this version by Sarah McLachlan is beautiful, and it seems to be the perfect accompaniment to our joyful Easter spent as a family watching Miss M.

You're a natural with that camera! I love the angles you got. Great job! Isn't Easter so much fun with a little one around? I guess Davis couldn't get anyone to help him open the eggs for the candy, so he just put them in his mouth and bit down hard! When does Miss M's little brother arrive?

P.S. I love this song, too. I used to play it on my saxophone. Is this the version that we heard while shopping in slc?

How awesome is that for a family of ducklings to show up at your Easter party! You couldn't have planned that if you tried.
