Arboretum - Macro Style

We may be in the dog days of summer, but I still managed to find some beautiful flowers at the arboretum. They may be a little faded and showing their age, but there is real beauty to be found.  I spent quite a bit of time capturing macro shots of some of my favorites.  Yellow roses are one of my favorite flowers, especially when they are a soft yellow and tipped with peach.

But I also love bright happy flowers like the one above.  I especially love the little flowers that make up the inside.

But my favorite one this trip, was this pink rose.  I love the darker dots which I'm sure some would consider damage, but to me, they are what makes this flower unique and beautiful.

Do you have a favorite flower? Do you prefer elegant roses, mysterious orchids or happy daisies?

Another old school song that made my playlist at the arboretum - Steve Earle's "Good-bye."

Your flower photos are beautiful. I too am a rose lover...forever. This summer I discovered what a Moss Rose bush is and will shop for one early next year.

Those pictures are lovely! Especially the bright yellow with tiny flowers on its center -- stunning :)

I don't usually love roses. They feel intimidating to me, and I can't pinpoint why. But flowers that are exotic and delicate -- my favorites -- are definitely not simple ones to grow, so my 'intimidation' argument doesn't really make sense :) Either way, flowers are gifts!

Your images are very pretty. I love roses, but daisies are a very close second.

There are so many beautiful flowers out there that I don't think I have an absolute favourite, but I do love them and you have now made me ponder over that very matter :-)

I love those. My favorite where all the little flowers inside the big flower, but I also loved the colors on the pink spotted rose. So beautiful!!

I love roses especially when they are scented. In general I don't like "hothouse" flowers, I prefer the old fashioned seasonal flowers- poppies, marigolds, pansies etc.
Your photos are beautiful!

Hey Jamie-
The flowers are so beautiful...I especially like your first macro shot of the yellow rose.
I don't know as I have a favorite flower....but I sure have taken a lot of beach roses this summer. Rosa Rugosa...perhaps that's my fav.
