The Sunday Creative - Orient

I don't know about the other participants, but when I saw this weeks prompt I was afraid I was going to come up blank.  I toyed with going back to some of my photos from Asia, but after going that direction and cheating a bit last week, I was determined to come up a photo I'd actually taken this week for the prompt.

I did what had worked in the past and tried to keep my mind open, and eventually I found something.

As I walked through the park I noticed this bench under the tree.  Unlike nearly all the other benches in the park, it wasn't set up along the path facing in, so you could sit and watch the people.  Instead this bench was set far from the path and "oriented" towards the tree, with its back facing the path and main areas of the park.  I can imagine a person sitting there on the bench, staring in at the tree, meditating on life and love.   What a perfect place to ponder the direction of life.

If I were to sit on the bench for a while, I think I might be listening to this:

Did you see my weekly, Life's Soundtrack post over at Kim Klassen's Inspiration Studio?  If not, hop over and check it out.  We're discussing songs that take you back to your school years.

A big thank you to Kristine of Blue Elephant Photography (an AMAZING photographer) and Melanie (a VERY talented artist) from Ewe Hooo! for the awesome shout-outs on their blogs this week.  Their kind words had me blushing.  Thanks ladies.  If you are looking for new blogs to fill your reader, drop in on them, you'll find something you love. How insightful of you to notice how the bench was oriented. I picture myself walking on by....but perhaps not. Sitting a spell under that beautiful tree would be healthy for mind and soul.
Nice post...thanks for sharing.

Love it! I wouldn't think to face a bench that way, but wow .. I sure will now.
Looks like a great, peaceful spot.
Nice choice chicka!

That whole scene just screams Orient to me! I don't know...it's the whole possibility of just sitting and getting re-oriented with yourself, I think. Anyway...I think it's perfect!

This is super! I just want to do a still life with oriental vases but haven't gotten to it, yet. My husband, being the scout leader that he is, and I have been discussing compasses but, I just cannot see a picture in my mind. But "oriental" makes me think of turn of the century france and Monet.

I love the photos at the arboretum and, of course, I LOVE the Alice in Wonderland. Fun! I'm glad that you had a lovely weekend and I wish you well as you're immersed in your project. The temple is a brilliant rendition of "ethereal" and, uh, oh, I couldn't type fast enough.... I've forgotten the rest - sorry!=(

Oh, but, congratulations on your two featured posts!!! What a well deserved honor. I'm going to go, now, and check them out.

Love, to you and yours!

Katy

oh my, this is one of those trees that if you climbed it you could disappear inside and make it your special world.
I'm curious about what the small sign posted next to it says...
this is wonderful. thanks for sharing.

wow, well done on your posts - I will go and check them out. I love this picture for orient. how lovely to have a bench facing into a tree - perfect. I really enjoyed listening to the Ray Lamontagne, his voice sounds really different to the first album I have, not as raspy! is this from his latest album?
