Night Photography

Purple Sunrise - House
I love Kat's night-time photography series.  I was in awe of the amazing photos she captured and it made me want to give it a try.  If you haven't seen her series yet, head over there now, you will learn so much!

Purple Sunrise - Trees
I still have a long way to go, but I woke up at my house last week before the sun and as I worked I saw the sky start to turn purple as the sun started to rise.  I grabbed my camera, dashed out to the porch and started snapping.

Purple Sunrise - Ridge
I love the rich color I captured, the silhouettes and mostly I just loved trying something new.  I wish I'd had a tripod, but I still think I did decently for my first try.

Purple Sunrise - Mountain
What photo techniques have you recently tried out?  How did it go?

To celebrate a little night photography, here's another one of my $5 amazon purchases - Josh Ritter's Beautiful Night:

Nice tune for me to listen to before I say goodnight, and your photos are nice too. Night, Night!

And I thought you captured a sunset. :) Beautiful sunrise, I'm inspired to try my hand at night photography from reading Kat's posts also. I'm hoping for some good nighttime bokeh.
Lovely shots.

What I love is how the mountains look like a silhouette. It's so breathtaking to see photos like that. Makes me want to see a sunrise!

I should read the post, I can't do night shots - these are really lovely and I love the first one especially with the silhouettes.

I love the photos, Jamie, those purple tones are beautiful.
My recent experiments have been with misty early morning landscapes but I've not been very successful (grey pictures, wet camera). All part of the fun, it feels so good when you finally get to grips with what you;ve been trying to achieve!

The purple tones are wonderful Jamie - the first rays of sun peeking over the mountains and the houses. Great silhouettes too, I'm hoping to practice my silhouettes while I'm in Australia. It's getting close and I'm so, so excited!

Wonderful shots, love the purple tones you have captured and the silhouettes are beautiful. I can only get my camera to take blurry shots at night!

they are lovely ... especially that purple. even if you don't have a tripod you can set the camera on something to steady it, although looks like you have a very steady hand. enjoy your weekend!

Such beautiful photos. I haven't had much luck with night photos yet. Really love the 1st one with the house on the horizon.

Have a great weekend!

Gorgeous, amazing photos. I so love the silhouettes against the sky after sunset or before sunrise, with that wonderful shade variation. Thanks so much for linking to my post, I'm sorry I missed it last week!
