Office Project Kickoff and GIVEAWAY

My office inspiration from Emily A Clark - Planning to use the same IKEA bookshelf and similar paint, but mine will be a few shades darker and blue blue than purple.

I'll admit it, I spend a lot of time reading design blogs and dreaming of projects I want to do around my house.  While I'm home this fall and have a bit of time off I'm planning to tackle one of those projects - my home office.  It's a large airy room, with big windows that is perfect for an office.  Best of all moving out there will get me away from the kitchen table which is much too close to the pantry and fridge for my waistline.  I anticipate working from home more during the next year so I want to get the office ready as quickly as possible and I'm planning to share my progress with you as I go.

I have decided on a color to paint the walls and on the type of flooring to install, but I'm still working on all the little details which, let's be honest, is what will really make the place my own.  I'm trying to keep the budget down, so there will be lots of bargain shopping, DYI and re-purposing for the project.  I almost wish I was eligible for the surprise I have for you today, my very first giveaway.

The kind folks at CSN Stores have given me a $35 gift certificate to give away to one of you!  CSN is an online shopping mecca with over 200 stores where you can buy anything from dining room chairs, to rugs (I need some for my office), to lighting right down to storage solutions for media collections (another thing I really need!)

The Rules
All you have to do to win is comment on this post telling me what home project you plan to tackle next.  For a bonus entry become a follower and add a second comment letting me know you've done so.  Already a follower?  Simply add a second comment letting me know you are.

There has never been a better time for all of you lurkers out there to come out of the word work and show me a little comment love.  The contest closes at mid-night Sunday, October 31.  I'll use random.org to pick the winner and will make the announcement on November 2.

The small print
CSN only ships to the US and Canada and international shipping charges apply to those of you in Canada.

A little song for luck from one of my all-time favorites:

hmm, if my home was bigger i could probably think of more home projects... but i only have a 1BR city apartment.

however, a small project i want to take on is finishing a picture wall that i started in my foyer that is lopsided and half done. hope that counts! good luck with your home office--sounds like it's going to be great.

Funny, I was just thinking this morning that I need to get the paint to paint my kitchen cabinets & get my kitchen finished up.
Your office sounds like it will be great. The fun part is looking for the extras to pretty it up.

So glad to have come across your blog! I happen to be in the middle of redoing a round drum table. I stripped the top in hopes to stain it and then repaint the bottom.

I love this, jamie! I think it's very nice, simple and relaxing. I can't wait to see the finished product! I am planning to tackle my baby girl's room next. She is about to be moved to a big girl bed and I'd like to redo her whole room. Exciting, but bittersweet. Wish she'd stay little forever.

oh what a shame it doesn't apply to the uk, oh well. It's funny as I am writing this with my desk in the middle of the room as we are in the process of having the house painted so everything is now moved to the middle! do you know how many shades of white there are out there???

Love that book case, I have had my eye on one of them for a while, i've just got nowhere to put it! All our projects are on hold as our landlord has found we have rising damp! We may have to move out for 6 months while they dig the entire downstairs up..what a pain in the a***!! Dont count me in the giveaway as im in England, I just wanted to comment anyway!x

Well I just bought a new house so we have many rooms to tackle, but I would have to say we will probably start with the living room.

We just finished restoring an old barn which is now a weekend getaway, and home to the kitchen of my dreams, so i won't be doing any renovating anytime soon (I hope!), but this office space would be a dream come true!!!

The project I would love to tackle would be a redo for my daughters room. I would LOVE to make it girly and absolutely darling.

My next (small) home projects are to rewire two table lamps I've picked up at antique stores and clean a very very dirty yet beautiful chandelier hubby found at GoodWill; I'm guessing it's from the 1950's with a lot of prisms hanging from it. Then onto shopping for a new bed for our spare bedroom...am watching the antique stores for one.

Looking forward to the office pictures.

I wanna win! Hope random.org picks me! I'm feeling lucky. Regarding room makovers, I'm always doing something around the house! I currently have my computer on built-in book shelves and there's not much room for my keyboard and mouse. I'd love to have a carpenter add a wooden desktop where I sit. But first need to go water my money tree out back. It's not doing so well:(
