Moving Forward

When I wrote my last post, my real intent was to share the reason my posts were a little blah and to excuse the lack of photos.  I had no idea when I wrote it that I would spend the next several days, as I read and re-read your comments, I would feel so much comfort.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kind words and suggestions.  I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of this wise and supportive community.

Thanks to all of you, I know I'm not alone - we all lose our mojo from time to time.  I also know this season seems to be getting a lot of us down.  And, most importantly, I have greater faith that my creative spark will come back again and I'm content waiting until it is ready.

I also spent the weekend putting many of your suggestions to work.
  • I did a little meditating and realized that in addition to the weather, a busy work schedule and my remodel projects have me stressed out and, that this stress may very well be a part of my problem.
  • I sat down and made a list of all the to-dos that float around my head, filling my mind to the point it can't contain any more.
  • I slowly started ticking things off that list - it's still long and will take a while - but I feel lighter having made progress.
  • I cleaned out a few cupboard and closets bringing a little more order to my life.
  • I made sure some of those to-do's felt at least a bit creative - I hung some pictures in my nearly finished office remodel project.  I also pulled out a can of spray paint and painted some projects that will go in the office (I'll show you soon.)  Best of all this project caused me to pick up the camera - just to get a before photo - but still progress.
  • I spent time with family, who graciously helped me move out of my master suite so the remodel can start (tile goes in Wednesday.)  I even used some of my new and improving cooking skills to make them homemade ice cream as a thank you.
  • Last, but not least, I spent some time relaxing with a good book and a movie.
Bottom line is - I may not have my mojo back yet, but I'm feeling better about life in general and know its just a matter of time.  Thank you so much for your great suggestions - I'm very happy to be a part of such an incredible community.

Grace Potter is a new favorite of mine and this song seems to align with those creative waves and dips - at times it does feel as if we are either falling or flying.

Well, you might be lacking mojo, but you're surely not lacking for energy! I would feel so good if I had accomplished all that!

Great photo, your mo jo will return, we all have 'off' periods, maybe your lack of mo jo is just telling you to chill out, take it easy for a while...when you are least expecting it something will come along that will start your creative juices flowing again, until then just enjoy the rest! x

Sounds to me like you're getting there Jamie. I'm reading a book at the moment by Susan Piver about meditating and I'm really going to try to make it part of my regular routine.

Your life sounds so busy, it's no wonder your creativity was submerged for a little while!
Glad you're making progress, it's great when you feel you're moving on :)

It will come back, just don't try too hard to look for it as otherwise you might push away tiny little sparks thinking it has to be a big one, you never know, the tiny spark might turn out to be the big one given the right wind and direction!

I'm impressed with how much you managed to achieve in a week! The remodelling job sounds like a creative project in itself - I wouldn't be too phased about not picking up the camera, sounds like your busy "creating" other things.

wow that is a lot of cleaning out and working things out, sometimes it helps to have an early spring clean in all aspects of life, I am very impressed with your decisions!

My grandma used to say "idle hands are the devil's workshop". well, you don't have to worry about that. doesn't it feel good to putz around in your own space and make a few changes here and there and make a bit of progress? I believe that's what the month of January is for. thanks for the tune Jamie. after she finally got on with it (chatter!) I enjoyed it immensely and I really like her voice. I recall that tree image from bootcamp (or perhaps Sunday Creative?) and it's a fave. it's so lush and full - highly symbolic.

that is what you do Jamie.

Hi Jamie. It's so interesting that both you and I lost our mojo at the same time and I did a few of the things you did to try and help myself thru this period. I too made list(s) and cleaned out one cupboard (mercy more to do though). We are kin in that. My mojo is starting to spark again and I'm thankful. Sometimes I just need to go with the flow and try not to stress about it. I'm looking forward to your before and after pictures of office and master suite. Sounds very exciting.

Whenever I feel overwhelmed and like my mojo is slipping away, I always clean up my surroundings. Seriously, 9 times out of 10 it's my messy life that bringing me down.

So glad you're feeling better!

i was right there recently too...
not feeling creative~ nor having the motivation to get that way.

a sweet friend told me to get out my camera and capture our beautiful snow fall...

that brought back a spark~ at least for a bit.

i'm sure you are right~ the dreary days of winter are taking a toll.

watch out spring~ our cameras will be clicking like crazy then.

until then~ i hope that you can see the every day in a new way and find some inspiration there.

hugs~

I love that photo you posted. Would like to sit a spell there right now.
