Gratitude

As I was playing with my nephew last night I noticed something unexpected happening on TV - I grabbed the remote and turned it off mute.  As they announced the death of bin Laden, I felt a great sense of relief that he could no longer spread his message of hatred.

Later as I listened to the President speak, I started crying as I was overwhelmed by a sense of gratitude for all those in the armed forces who serve and have served.   I'm overwhelmed by the sacrifice of the men and women of the armed forces and the families who have carried on during their long absences.  I'm incredibly grateful to them and so very proud of what they do every day.

I echo the President's hope that we can again become united as a country (and a world) - and I hope we can move forward together to a peaceful future.

The message of peace and unity is a poignant one. Something everyone should be able to rally around! Very nice photo, song, and message pairing!

Yes, it was certainly emotional news. I'm hopeful it is the start of a more peaceful world.

Well said, very well said. And yes, peace. Enough hatred, it's more than time to start cultivating peace. It takes a lot of hard work - not brute force, but work - and I have to believe it can be done.

Beautiful song.

It felt just amazing when I read about it in my morning paper. After all these years - and finally... Big day, and hopefully a day in the right direction.

Navy Seals are AMAZING. They got in there, got the job done, and left unscathed. Every time they go in to do something like this (like when they went on that ship last year that pirates had taken over), it always amazes me how talented they are.

here in Canada where we felt the pain of the USA on 911 and landed so many of your planes on that day..we too sighed a sigh of relief to hear that the man that represented so much terror has been silenced.

I wish we could regain that unity we felt right after 9/11. How terrible that it takes such a tragedy to bring us all together.

I was so proud when I heard him speak yesterday. I thought it was one of the most eloquent speeches I had ever heard.
