Sun Flares

Sunflare through Cherry Blossoms
I love sun flare photos - they probably aren't text book for good photography, but I love the life a bright flash of light brings to a photo.

Sunflare Arch
I like the way taking a photo with a sun flare forces you to move around looking for that perfect angle, where you can see some of the surrounding area and still have the sun flare flashing through.

Sunflare Arch 2
The only thing not to love is that I have a tendency to go sun blind for a bit after taking a few of these!

Sunflare behind bridge
This week I've focussed on using just Adobe Camera Raw to process my photos.  The only thing I used Photoshop for was adding the watermark and resizing.  I loved that it saved me a bit of time and still gave me tons of control.  It was a fun experiment and one I'll probably use again.  Do you edit in Adobe Camera Raw?  Any tips for someone who is fairly new to it?

I've fallen a bit in love with a Utah band, Fictionist.  Seems Rolling Stone likes them too - they are one of the finalists in a contest to get a RS cover.

If you love them too - take a minute and give them 5 stars - help them win the cover

Have you ever tried using Lightroom? It's like Camera Raw with a great cataloging system added in.

Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my keyboard.... I adore your photos here. I'm a sucker for sunflare too, and those arches.... Oh, my.

I use camera raw for the basic work on my photos, before doing anything else. For most photos, that's all I need, but not when I want to play around more (like for Texture Tuesdays).

I wish I had advice, but I feel like I'm a fumbling amateur, especially compared to you.

Nice sun flares Jamie. I know what you mean about your eyes going funny after a while! Not sure about this track though - not really my thing so for once no trip to iTunes :-)

I love those sun flares, they look fabulous. I rather like to take them once in a while as well.
I've never tried RAW, don't think I'm advanced enough for it yet, and doesn't it mean horrendously large file sizes?

Oh gosh. This post made me LOL! I was all caught up in the beauty of the sunflares. Then, I trickled along to the cover of the RS comment and now I can't shake Dr. Hook from my mind.

Fun sun flare photos! I like to experiment with catching this aspect of light also. I use Aperture for photo editing.

If it's a mistake, I just don't care. :)

It's one of my favorite things to see in pictures. Especially pictures of landscapes where the sunlight is just pouring in between the trees.

These are so pretty! LOVE sun flares. I use Adobe RAW as well but am also fairly new to it. My overall goal is to make minor adjustments to my pics in RAW and stay out of Photoshop altogether unless I'm doing a creative edit of some sort. WAY less time consuming.

Great photos wsith your Sun flares...now I'll have to watch for that type of thing going on....if and when we ever see the sunshine here. Saturday we hit our May average rainfall in all of 12 hours..... what a winter/spring... and yes you did luck out with sun when you visited... come visit again and bring us the sun.
