Sunday Stroll

The weather was terrible a good part of the weekend - so Saturday I stuck to the house and caught up on a few things.  Sunday the sun came out and I joined half of the city in the area called Ouchy - it is so beautiful and perfect for a Sunday stroll.

One of my favorite things about being in Europe is the architecture.  Having spent most of my life in the US (and the Western US at that) I'm not used to buildings that have so much history.  We are lucky to see something that is 100 years old - let alone hundred's of years.

These grand, sweeping buildings always catch my eye and make me wish we had a bit bit more variety in architectural styles at home.

Things here are built to last - some of these buildings are hundreds of years old and are still so beautiful and charming.

I've just got one week left to go here, I can't believe how quickly this trip has flown by!

I listened to this song as I walked home from the bus stop on Sunday - an oldie, but a goodie.

Mary Chapin Carpenter - A Place In The World

Gorgeous scenes - what camera did you bring with you. The reason I ask is because I'll be in London and Paris in September.

Once again, you take beautiful pictures!

I also appreciate buildings with some age on them. Wonder why we don't build things to last here in the ol' USA...

What beautiful photos Jamie. I'm lucky enough to live in the UK and we have loads of historical buildings but these are so typically Swiss.

I'm wondering are those above-ground lines for electric mass transit in the first photo? I like the neatly clipped round shrubs in the second photo, and all of those windows. the architecture is ornate, no? it says "longevity", I agree. lovely handi-work by someone long long ago. great shots Jamie. thanks for the peek. I hope you have a beautiful day.

I 100% agree. Thats what makes Europe so fascinating is just the history. It's impossible to come by in the States.

My husband is English - I imported him :)

When he found out we had a US History class he laughed and asked if it was 2 weeks long. So I smacked him....

Anyway, I love going to England and seeing all the old buildings. They have streets older than our country. It is awesome! I may be a little jealous of you!

Great song!
The architecture over there certainly is incredible. To think that so many of the structures were created by hand, hard labour, and one solid stone at a time humbles me.

I love seeing this architecture. Gorgeous. I guess here in New England there are more older and historic buildings, but they are child's play next to these.
Hoping the progress on your home purchase is going well while you're there.

I always found the high number of castles in Europe to be almost comical. When I lived in Scotland, I would pass a castle two or three times each day. To an American, that's just silly.
