Changes and the Shabby Apple Winner

Master Bedroom
Before - that white stuff on the walls is wallpaper

Last November I decided to do a little remodeling in my Salt Lake house.  My master bed and bath were terribly outdated and I'd finally saved up enough $ to do the work. I picked out carpet, paint and tile and got started. First my mom helped me strip wallpaper until we could barely life our arms.  Next up tile to replace the carpet (yes, I said carpet) in the bathroom.  Then the painter came in and I started to fall in love with the new room.  I started picking out accessories and scheduled the carpet installation.

There were bumps along the road, everything took longer than I anticipated, but the end was in sight.  Then my sister and her family needed a place to stay while their new house was built and we decided we'd take on the adventure of all living together at my house.  So I put the new carpet and the rest of the final touches on hold until everyone moved out (two toddlers on new carpet would have made me a nervous wreck.)

Last week I repainted the guest bedroom and started getting ready for the carpet to come in.  As I write this the carpet installer is still doing his work, but I'm hoping next week to FINALLY call this project complete - and it only took 6 months.  My goal for the weekend is to get everything upstairs put back together and to share some photos next week.

Anyone else had one of those home improvement projects that you thought you could finish in a month then had to live with it for 6 months?  Frustrating at the time, but so joyful when it finishes.

Congratulations to Tiffany, the lucky winner of the Azure Coast dress from Shabby Apple.  I think there are a lot of Shabby Apple fans out there, thanks to you all for stopping by and I hope to see you back here again in my little part of the blogging world.

I listened to Josh Ritter yesterday while I worked and this one got stuck in my head, maybe because of all the changes going on at my house lately.

Excited to see your bedroom progress!

One of my good friends had to remove wallpaper from her entire house. I am not jealous!

We thought tiling our kitchen in our first house would be a long weekend project and we weren't finished until over a month later. Very frustrating, but was so nice when it was done!

Wallpaper is a returning trend that I will not be following! I've done too many remodeling projects to want to mess with covering or changing it.

Years ago I took on the task of removing wallpaper from the bedroom walls of the house I was living in. Well, there were so many layers I made very little progress and actually made it worse. I ended up having to call in a professional to finish the job. I can totally relate to aching arms...

I don't wonder it took 6 months...you seem so busy from here. Can't wait to see how beautiful you made it. I remember how well your work space came out when you re-did that. You get a gold medal just for removing wall paper-I did that in my house and swore on a bible that no wallpaper would ever go up on my watch. I'm a paint only girl. Can't wait to see.

I thought renovating my main bathroom would take a weekend...6 months later we were still working on the small details.
Congratulations to the dress winner and thank you for hosting a great giveaway opportunity!

Yes, every single one of our renovation projects takes longer than I anticipate and I become a grumpy witch by the end. I just want things to be done already!
I'm excited to see your changes.

Can't wait to see the finished rooms. How very fun.

And yes, I actually have design projects that have lasted over a year...but mostly to me slacking off on the job.

I can't wait to see the final results! Funny, or not, how those remodeling projects always take longer than expected. We have some home projects that have been dragging on forever.... hate that!
