Luzern - Lake Cruise

Luzern Train Station
When I arrived in Luzern it was pouring rain.  Since wandering old town while wearing sandals in the rain didn't sound like tons of fun, I decided to do a lake cruise and hope it stopped raining by the time I was finished.  It was a brilliant idea.  Not only did I stay dry (for the most part) the ride was beautiful.

Moody Lake
My favorite photo from that Saturday trip is this moody shot - for me it summed up that cold, dreary morning perfectly.  The water, the trees, the mountains peaking out behind the layers of clouds - ah, just the way I remember it.

Lake Village
This is pretty much how I expected most of the little Swiss villages to look - completely charming and beautiful.

Castle
We cruised past this castle and I couldn't help but wish I could see inside - or at least know what type of person owns a castle like this along the lake.

This song came up on my iPod while I was on the train to Luzern, I knew I'd heard it before, but I couldn't figure out where.  It drove me nuts until I could bet back to my computer and do a little googling.  Then, of course, I felt silly for not recognizing it right away.  Which version do you like best?

Oh, Jamie! It is so so beautiful! Although Sweeden was not a place that hopped off the map to me, over the past few years.. seeing all your photos and hearing your stories has made me put it on my list of must- sees!

Keep the photos and stories coming! :;

So beautiful! I've loved the photos on both posts. I was there 40 years ago, and I would love to go back!

The second moody shot is my fav! Gray and rain, although maybe not fun, can provide some wonderful photo opportunities with the way it defines the layers of scenery moving back into space!

Your pictures awaken the travel bug in me. Some of my best days abroad were spent with rain.
The Placebo version is my fav.

I so love seeing photos from places I've never been. Seriously I think I need a job that lets me travel around the world. This sitting in one space isn't working. Thanks for sharing. Gorgeous.

No way!! I absolutely adore that Placebo version of the song. I was so excited when I saw it here. Yipeee!

And that village in the mist photo is gorgeous. And the village looks pinkish to me, creating more of a charming, welcoming place, rather than moody and forbidding. You amazing woman with your trips around the world, how cool that you can share it with us.

Your favourite ferry (cheap ferries) pic looks cool and all the other photos are also awesome

how pretty is that town? i love the little red house on the lake, which is probably the boat house for the larger home. i don't mind a gently rainy or overcast day. the light is often lovely, unless you're looking for lots of blue sky photos :).

placebo is new to me. i like their version, but the kate bush version is my favorite. enjoy your weekend!
