Picnic at the Grove

Maple Grove Eye 2
When I was growing up my family had a favorite campground just 20 minutes from home.  We loved spending weekends at Maple Grove, where there were lots of trails, a little creek and lots of shade.  It is still one of my favorite places on earth.

Family on Bridge
Last Sunday we decided a picnic at the Grove was a perfect way to spend part of the afternoon - and we were right.  It was so fun to show the kids some of our favorite trails.

Do you like camping?  Do  you have a favorite place you like to go back to time and time again?

Ryan Tanner is a Salt Lake artist and I'm a little in love with this song.

Looks like a beautiful place! I grew up in KY so I love the outdoors, camping, hiking, etc. Sounds like a great time to me!

a sweet spot, and only 20 minutes from home? those rocks are beautiful. I imagine the views from the top are pretty awesome too. and you're passing along the fun to the next generation - what could be better than making memories with them? have a fun weekend Jamie.

Jamie, looks like a lovely, picturesque spot! How fun to pass on the memories and experiences of your youth to the next generation.
Our family's all time favorite hiking, camping spots are around Arches National Park and Moab, UT.

The grove looks amazing. I can see how it could be my favourite place in the world if I lived closer.

We do love camping. We used to take our kids with another couple and their kids to the Adirondacks to hike the High Peaks. Once they grew up we started camping in the Finger Lakes and checking out the wineries instead of doing much hiking! In just two weeks, the four of us are off to Alaska, but we won't be camping this time!

Nice to have a familiar spot. Looks like it might offer some great photo ops too. Me camping? Ah, no....I'm all about a comfy bed and indoor plumbing.

I love camping, but there's so many new places to see that I can't imagine returning to one over and over again. Although, I don't have kids, so my life is somewhat more flexible.

i love the idea of camping, but honestly i couldn't even stay in a bed & breakfast if the room didn't have a tv. your picnic sounds & looks great. i could do that!

Yes! We love camping, although we upgraded from a tent to a trailer a few years ago. We have a favorite place on the Oregon coast, can't wait to visit it again!!

While I've done a fair share of "cabining", I've never been camping.

Your spot sounds wonderful. We used to camp at a piece of property my bil owns; on a small lake. I still crave to go back there and just sit and enjoy the smells/sounds/sights.

Your special place sounds wonderful ... full of memories and more are being made!

Picnics are the best ... I have to remember to put one together for hubs and I.

I'm not much of a camper. But I'd like to camp - or sleep at - the beach. Like in those little driftwood 'shelters' you sometimes see on an isolated beach? It seems sort of romantic...
Your picnic sounds lovely :)

Looks like a beautiful spot. I'd love to revisit some of the areas where I spent some great times as a kid. Although I wonder if they would still be as amazing as an adult as I remember them as a kid?
