Little Mermaid

Red Rocks
Last weekend my family headed to St George - I finally got to share my new vacation house with my sister. We met up with extended family to see The Little Mermaid at Tuacahn Amphitheater.  It was so fun to catch up with everyone before the show and again the next night at my house for a BBQ (I'm of the opinion that you aren't truly moved into a place until you have at least one party.)

Little Mermaid
For those of you from outside of Utah - Tuacahn is an amazing theatre nestled in the red rocks of Southern Utah (near Zion's National Park.)  Little Mermaid was very well done - and the little girls in our group loved it.  Miss M got so excited when Ariel got her voice back - her face lit up and she made sure we all understood what had just happened.  She was also incredibly proud of the fact that she didn't get scared and have to close her eyes.

Maggie Dances
We also discovered that those dance classes must be paying off.  While we were waiting for the show to start, she found a small stage and decided she HAD to get up there and dance for us - this shy little girl may just be coming out of her shell.

My favorite song from The Little Mermaid is - Under the Sea, I can't hear it without wanting to dance.

Have you seen the Little Mermaid stage production?  Do you have a favorite song from the movie/show?  The Lion King is still my favorite Disney movie done Broadway style, but Little Mermaid just moved up the list.

NOTE:  I'm still having google problems and can't comment on some blogs, it seems to depend on how the comments section is structured.  I'm still working on finding a fix, but know if I haven't left a comment, it isn't because I'm not reading.

The Little Mermaid is awesome! I can only imagine what it would be on a big screen. Glad you had a good time.

What an amazing setting! In the UK we have an outdoor theatre in Cornwall called the Minack Theatre. It's built on the side of the cliffs and the sea is the backdrop to the stage - magical!

I've never seen the movie or heard the music. I know right? So sweet to see your little neice enjoying herself.
About blogger, I was having problems leaving comments and found that if I unchecked the 'stay logged in' box when I signed into my gmail account, I can leave comments. Crazy, but it works.

What fun! We drove through St. George on our way to Zion two years ago, and a return trip is definitely on my agenda!

What a great place!!! The only Disney musical I've seen is 'Lion King'(in London)...and it remains one of my best experiences, EVER! I have a feeling my Munchkin would love the Little Mermaid :)

Looks like fun! I just saw Mamma Mia last weekend. I love these modern musicals, so fun. I also enjoyed your statement that you haven't moved in until you have a party. We had our own "we're home" party last weekend and it felt like we had finally celebrated our arrival home. Have a great weekend!

Sounds like an AMAZING place to see a theatre production. (I love the Zion Canyon area....one of our favourites to visit...) I haven't seen the stage production, but does it include "Kiss the Girl"? Love that one...

Doesn't it make you feel almost like a little girl yourself? I love watching movies from my childhood sometimes -- makes me feel like an 8 yr. old again!

So special that you got to experience with your niece! My favorite song is "Kiss the Girl" or "Part of Your World". We used to sing those all the time!

I am so out of the loop here. I'm unfamiliar with The Little Mermaid, but you've piqued my interest in it. I agree with you Jamie, your getaway home is now properly christened! happy weekend to you.

Oh, what a great family experience I can imagine the energy with all the little girls at the play. Congrats on your first BBQ at your home. Sounds like the perfect way to end your summer. Hope you find a fix for your commenting situation real soon!

It was so fun to go!!! Some (cause there are so many) of my favorite parts of the show were Under the Sea and Kiss the Girl scenes. It was amazing - from the special effects to the singing. It was fun to see everyone and visit. Thanks for having us over to your new place. It was nice! We will have to do it again next year!!
