Gallery Wall - Finished

Gallery Wall
Remember back in August where I forced you to live through post after post of my travel photos as part of August Break? I did that for a reason - I wanted to create a gallery wall at my house and fill it with photos from some of my favorite places. August Break and the gallery wall gave me a good excuse to dig through old files to find some of my favorite photos (and if you haven't done this in a while you should, it was so my fun revisiting those trips and memories.)

Living room
I finally got around to printing, framing and hanging the photos - and I have to say, I'm very happy with the way it turned out.  I even had enough photos to start a wall on the  opposite side of the staircase and I hope to keep adding to my collection.

There are two prints on the wall that aren't mine - I purchased them on etsy (here and here), these prints define my travel philosophy making them a perfect fit:

"My favorite thing is to go where I've never been."
"I was not born for one corner; the whole world is my native land."

My thoughts on gallery walls - they aren't cheap and they aren't easy.  Most of my frames came from Ikea or Michaels - but even with good prices frames add up quickly.  I also won't pretend the actual hanging was easy - it took planning and a bit of math, but I'm convinced it was worth it.

Do you have a gallery wall at your house?  Do you print and hang the photos you take?  If not, what do you do with your photos to keep them from just becoming gigs of data on your hard drive?

I've been listening to Laura Marling a lot lately and I can't get enough of her Rambling Man - it seems an appropriate accompany to a post about travel photos.

I love this (and you didn´t force us, we enjoyed all of it)! I´d be standing in front of that wall for a long time. :-)

Looks great. I love having constant reminders of happy travels. I'm working on a mini gallery wall in my guest bedroom. They are definitely a lot of work!

Hey Jamie, I love how your wall turned out. And yes, there's no doubt about the expense involved in framing all those photos. I admire your ambition, and the end result is a sight to behold. It gives me great satisfaction just looking at it from afar! Good job. happy day to you Jamie.

You have inspired me! I have a wall in my front entrance that has been looking drab and in need of something. A gallery wall might be just what turns it around.
Paint this weekend and then planning. What do you mean by a math component...geometrical or otherwise?

I love the gallery wall you created and framing the pics in same color gives it great appeal. Also love the wall color. Gray?

That looks awesome!! I only gallery wall that may count as one in my house is the one with our family pictures on it. I love them! I would love to put a real one up but they do look like tons of work!

Looks so fabulous! I think that blogging is a great tool to organize and think about our photos in new ways. For me it's shed light on {like you said} the special moments I want to hang up. I do recognize a few I think ;)

Looks amazing...I did this on a wall at my home too, but I must say it could use some work after seeing yours!

Awesome! This project turned out great! I'll bet you find you'll find yourself stopping to admire it all the time (that is what I would do) taking little trips down memory lane :)

ps. I need to do this! I am a firm believer in displaying pictures in the home ... it just makes it feel so homey :)

your gallery wall looks terrific as does the entire room. i'm not very good about printing my own photos and more likely to display photos taken by others. i have made a blurb book of pics, and although time consuming, it's a nice thing to do.

Totally worth it. Your pictures will be a constant inspiration for future travels. Your gallery wall looks perfect with the Etsy artwork you paired it with. You must be thrilled with the results!

This is such a natural fit for you. You have seen incredible things and photograph them so well. What a great wall.
I recently did a gallery wall too. The girls slammed a door and 1/2 the frames hit the floor! Need to fix that!

PS - thanks for stopping by my blog recently! So glad to have found yours :)

I would like to have something like that in my apartment, but I think it's just too small :(

This looks fabulous. We've had a gallery wall of family photos at the top of our stairs for years. I've never gotten tired of it.
