Lyrical Musing: Springsteen

The Corner
On Friday's I share a song that caught my attention. A line or lyric that made me stop and think, inspired me, or caused me to see something in a new way. I hope you'll play along and share songs that inspired you.

Don't let the title of this post fool you, this week's song isn't by Springsteen, instead it is a song called Springsteen by Eric Church that celebrates the power of music to take you back:

"Funny how a melody sounds like a memory."

Don't you love it when a song comes on and you are instantly transported back to another time? That song they played during your first slow dance with someone you loved or even the song you listened to over and over after a sad break up?

What songs take you back?

I'm hitting the road again, so I may disappear for a bit. I hope you have an amazing weekend and first week of May.

There are so many songs that send me back."Half the time thinking of what might have been and half thinkin' just as well" from Sequel by Harry Chapin is ringing in my ears this week.
Hoping you have safe travels.

A great post with a sweet message. Yes, there are so many songs that suddenly transmit us back in time and memory. The feeling is often calm and soothing because we - often at least - associate music with good times in our past. My first song I ever really noticed was Help by The Beatles. Whenever I hear it, it brings my right back to my childhood. Safe travels!

Yeah... there are some many songs who transport me back to different moments in my life. There are some songs that I absolutely love, but I avoid like the plague because of memories that they trigger. It's a shame really. I guess I just have to make new memories with them, haha. Be safe and we'll be here when you come back. :)

Safe travels Jamie. Love this image you've posted today. Wonderful to expose the tall building against the shop at the bottom. Nicely done.

I too hear a song and think 'back'. I grew up hearing Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, and when I hear one of their songs I hear my mom whistling...she was good at it. Safe travels for you.....

Hi Jamie,
It's amazing how songs, sights, and smells can bring back a host of memories and emotions. Some are fun to return to, while others not so much!
Love the contrasts that you've captured in this photo - the old, muted colors and architecture above with the contemporary, neon lights below. Two eras and worlds at once!
Happy traveling to you:) I was busy moving our daughter back from college this week. Our house will be a bit different this summer, with "kids", loud music, and late nights part of the mix:)
Take care.
