Yesterday I carefully packed my bags, said my goodbyes and headed to the airport.
After four hours I was back home with a new set do tickets to try the whole thing over again today.
Luckily they found the mechanical problem before we were in the air and I got stuck at home instead of mid-trip.
I'd liked to say things are looking better today, but my flight is already delayed an hour, putting my connections at risk, so Dallas and London friends, I could be dropping you a line if things don't go as planned I wouldn't mind a chance to catch up.
UPDATE: I am still in Salt Lake - the delay got worse and I missed all my connections, so instead of flying and getting stuck in Dallas they sent me home to try again tomorrow. Fingers crossed the third time is lucky.
In the meantime, I'll enjoy some music and people watching. When I typed the title of this post a song instantly jumped into my head and is still playing, Whitesnake's Here I Go Again.

Wishing you safe travels.
Don't you just *love* airports? I've done my fair share of people watching and waiting, so I feel for you. But yes, better to find mechanical problems before you're in the air. I hope your new flight isn't delayed too much and you make it to your destination soon without any other issues.
Gahh! Travel delays make me so crabby. I feel like one can only handle recirculated air and airport food for so long, right?
Sending wishes for a safe trip, and hopes that you get to your final destination in a somewhat timely manner. :)
Wishing u a safe trip
That's a bummer that you haven't been able to leave yet. Hope things go better tomorrow!
P.S. "Here I Go Again" is one of my 80's favorites!
Oh this happened on your way home too. NOT FAIR!! I hope things will work out. Third time a charm? I hope so. Travel safely my friend.
Oh my gosh that's crazy.
traveling these days has become such a pain... Travel safely my dear!
do let me know if you come to london!
I adore Whitesnake! That song takes me right back to the garage of my childhood home, dancing along on my rollerskates! I wish you safe and swift travels, my friend!
Holy cow Jamie! I wondered if your parents were here this morning when I saw your driveway shoveled. I hope that things work out today and that you have a smooth trip. We'll miss you!
Wow. Good thing you are getting stuck at home and like you said...not in some random location. Third time's a charm, right?
Oh man, this sucks. At least you aren't stuck on the tarmac. I hate when that happens.
FLYING IS THE GREATEST.
I'm beginning to think this is the status quo when traveling by air. Luckily you are still home and not stranded somewhere else! Hope it all gets straightened out and the rest of the trip goes smoothly.
