A few days after reading a great post on rain photography I had the chance to put some of the lessons I learned to work. At dusk it started raining so I grabbed my camera and headed out to the front porch and started snapping.
I quickly realized that if I wanted to capture the great reflection and light that come from wet surfaces I needed to get up close and personal.
I was rolling around on the ground trying to keep me and the camera dry but also trying to capture interesting photos. I was in my tiny home town, so I'm sure if any of the neighbors saw they'll be asking my parents about their crazy daughter soon.
One bonus of an evening of rain? We woke up to a rainbow the next morning.
After reading Kat's post on rain photographt, I literally was "Waiting for the Rain to Come."

Love that you rolled around on the ground for the rain shots :) They're gorgeous. The rainbow is stunning.
Thanks for the visual and the chuckle of you rolling around on the ground in the rain for the 'perfect pic'. Rain photography (reflection) is so interesting and fun to do. Love the rainbow pic.
gorgeous! love the image of you rolling around...
These shots are amazing. I was kinda hoping it would rain here, but it only sprinkled!
Beautiful photos, Jamie...REALLY beautiful!
That rainbow is amazing with that yellow tree in the picture and I love the running water out of the drain. And I would also love to see you rolling around trying to capture these shots!! I think it was very worth it!!!
Beautiful beautiful picts!!
I absolutely love these rain shots, wonderful.
I'm still chuckling at the thought of you rolling on the ground in the rain! It was worth it for these great shots- I especially love the third one :)
Rain photographs are lovely, and somehow you feel clean and refreshed after looking at them too.
Really nice photos. The one with the rainbow is so amazing, I love the rainbow colors and the all the brilliant colors of the house and trees.
These are beautiful, I need to get out in the rain more! I'm totally inspired to go lay in a puddle.
these are wonderful and i love the one of the drain. and, the thought of you rolling around in the rain with the neighbors peeking out their windows. made me laugh out loud, no i mean, lol ;). it's raining here today!
Well done...they're beautiful!! I haven't done much picture taking in the rain...I'm so scared I'll wreck my camera! (seeing your awesome shots, though, I need to get out there and give it a try :D)
Aren't some of the colors you get in the rain just amazing? These are just beautiful Jamie, and the rainbow? What serendipity!!
YAY! What a great reward. I love these photos, the simplicity of the light on the water is beautiful. And I love the idea of you getting soaking wet in the rain to get the shots! :) Thanks for the link back!
