Wanderer

The wanderer in me is getting antsy.  I don't remember the last time I went more than 4 months without getting on an airplane, so as much as I have loved being home I'm ready to travel again.  With spring just around the corner I'm starting to think of all the places I want to go - I've planned a Caribbean cruise in November with a girlfriend, but that is much, much to far away.  I need something in the next few weeks.  Some place with a little sunshine.

I saw a quote from C.P. Cavafy's Ithaca on one of my favorite blog's Gypsy Girls Guide yesterday that just spoke to my traveler's soul:

Keep Ithaca always on your mind.
Arriving there is what you are destined for.
But do not hurry the journey at all.

This quote had me thinking a road trip - one I can just take slow and easy might be the way to go.  Getting in the car with my camera, no real agenda and some great music just might be the thing.  Any one else starting to plan their Spring/Summer travel?  Any brilliant trip ideas?

Here's a song from one of my favorites that has always spoken to the traveler in me.

Alison Krauss - Gravity

And before anyone asks - this feeling was coming on long before my house filled up with loved ones.  I'm loving the noise and hustle that fills my formerly silent house, I'm just ready to leave my winter hibernation behind. Pin It

You usually are all over - I bet it is weird to stay in one place...especially with the snow - I hope you plan a nice relaxing road trip - it sounds fun...maybe if I didn't have 4 kids to drag along with me!

I know what you mean - I used to spend a lot of time on the road and I've been in one place for entirely too long. I love this particular song.

Sunshine and travel sounds fun! I have a trip planned to Providence, RI next month, but that's work - which is a lot different than a vacation. Hope to bring my camera though and capture some images other than trees :)

With no agenda and a camera, I could be almost anywhere and be happy! I am hoping to spend time in Vermont this summer photographing covered bridges, and am really looking forward to it.

March is my favorite time to travel, and I am SO ready for a road trip. This year it's not happening until the end of April. We're headed to Colorado, then to Arizona, and to California. We're flying home, though. It can't come soon enough.

I am long overdue for a trip somewhere. It's been way too long. Some place new would be nice. I've never been out to the west coast.

Riley and I are going on a road trip with my parents, Tami, and her son Kobe in the end of May. We are gonna go to see the Redwoods in CA and then drive down the coast into San Fran. We are really looking forward to it - it should be a ton of fun and pretty scenery.

Good for you for giving yourself what you need...very healthy to do so. You want sunshine: Florida...fly there, rent a car and snap away....sounds fun. I'd like some sunshine: we might see it next week the weather man said.

I'm going to MX in June to visit my cousin who is like a sib. Just me: hubby staying home...I'm looking forward to seeing him as it's been 8 years since he moved away and I will love the warmth and beauty of his area.

I would love for you to make St. George your destination. Although I have a feeling that may not be adventurous enough for you. :) But just incase your wondering it's suppose to be 70 degrees this weekend!!

i understand that itch well! i used to have to get away all the time. now with Lila it has calmed a bit, but it still calls to me from time to time...then i just tell the hubs its time for a weekend adventure. Traveling is so good for the soul. The Caribbean sounds wonderful, and that road trip sounds amazing! i am all about road trips. I can't wait to hear where you end up going! we are heading out to the desert (palm springs) this spring. I am really looking forward to it!

I'm taking quick 4 hour sprint next weekend to see my sister. With hints of spring starting to whisper I'm excited to get on the move.

I also haven't traveled since the end of last Summer so a trip is definitely overdue. I am hoping to slow things down this Spring so I can get away. I hope you can do the same!
Have a lovely weekend!

what a beautiful tune to share, thanks Jamie. I chose to read Ithaca at my favorite aunt's funeral and haven't looked at it since, but it's one of my positively favorite poems so thank you for bringing it back to me. isn't it just one that is unforgettable? kind of like this tune. have a beautiful weekend Jamie. oh, and I too am getting the travel itch, and that almost never ever happens to me!

Well, you already know this from my own recent travel post but my husband and I (and our dog Willow!) are planning a road trip to the Oregon coast at the end of May for two weeks. Can't wait! The last road trip we took together was to Taos, NM in 2001.

I love your idea of a road trip with no agenda, just a camera and some good tunes!
