I had a bit of a health scare last week - it all started with the stomach flu, which led to a serious case of dehydration, which caused me to pass out and have a episode of muscle spasms, which led to some cuts and bruises and a very sore head. I'm completely fine now, but last week reminded me how incredibly blessed I am and what an amazing family I have.
After my little episode I was sitting there, dazed and confused, honestly not understanding what had happened. But I kept hearing this still, small voice telling me I needed to call my sister (who lives nearby) and tell her what happened. I finally picked up the phone, she, of course, urged me to go to the doctor. I, of course, said no (I have a thing about doctors and hate to go.) I just asked her to call me back in an hour or so and check on me.
My sister got off the phone and this time she was the one who heard that small voice. This one told her that I was wrong and she needed to get me help. She put her work on hold, got my brother-in-law to come home and watch their kids and called me back and told me whether I wanted to or not we were going to the doctor. She even managed to track down my parents (which I thought was impossible since they were camping and out of cell phone range.)
My sister got me to the doctor and set there with me for several hours while they gave me IV fluids and my mom showed up soon after so I didn't have to spend the night alone.
I'm so grateful for the promptings we felt that day, and that we acted on them. I know that things could have been much worse if I hadn't gotten the help I needed when I did. I'm also feeling incredibly blessed to have the kind of family that drops everything when someone is in need.

Family Blessings
I'm here for you
In sinking sand
Just grab my hand
And with all I have
I'll hold on

So glad you are okay. It is good to know that you have your family by your side. :)
You forgot to mention it was my fault you got sick in the first place!! Not that I wouldn't have done the same thing even if it wasn't my fault. You're my sister and best friend. I would pretty much do anything for you.
Yikes - I´m so glad you´re alright now! Family is great - especially when close in case of emergency. When I got meningitis several years ago, my MIL had to fly to us to be able to jelp my hubby with our kids and such. I was most thankful she did, but it would be so much easier to live nearby!
Take care now!
I'm so glad you're okay, Jamie! And so thankful that your sister was there to see that you got the help you needed. It's hard to accept that sometimes we need help...but so good that you did! You're sister and her close proximity is such a blessing in so many ways. I do hope you're feeling better!
Oh, my goodness, I am sorry to hear that you were so unwell, but I am also really glad to hear that you are on the mend. It is great to know that you have family to depend on.
I'm so glad your sister acted as she did and you are now ok. Yep: family can be the best. Take care.
are you ok??????? she's a rockstar!
I am glad you are feeling better. I was worried when Nicole told me about it.
Oh Jamie...scary. So glad you're OK and you and your sister listened to that little "inner" voice.
I hate going to the DR too, but I've learned over time to find one you can really trust and go.
Glad this is a fresh new week for you.
Very scary, indeed...glad you're ok...and very glad you've got such an awesome sister!
Hooray for family! Sorry to hear you were so sick though! Hope you are feeling better.
i'm very glad you are going to be ok and that your sister loves you enough to drop everything and make sure you would be. great intuition on her part, it's probably a lot to do with being a mom. feel better, jamie!
happy to know you're ok! family is priceless no doubt about it!!!
I'm so glad to hear you're okay - how scary.
Yikes, I am so glad you are ok and am glad that your sister is close to keep an eye on you!
Oh my Jamie, that was a scare! I'm so glad that all is well and that you have such a wonderful family close at hand! I'm with you, I hate to go to the Doc, but I too have my "people" to look over me. Yep, we are blessed!
You are very lucky - both to have a wonderful family who supports you, and to have the insight to listen to the little voice inside that said you needed to call your sister. I'm glad you are doing better!
Oh my gosh, Jamie...and I'm happy that you're okay and that your family was there for you through the entire thing. Isn't it strange how we downplay our own physical needs...and convince ourselves we're okay? I'm sure that if your sister was feeling sick, you'd have done the exact same thing she did for you. But somehow when it's yourself...it's so much harder to admit that you need to go in and see someone.
I, too, have the doctor "thing". I haven't been in six years. I'm just scared.
Anyway. I hope you take it easy for the next few days, and get back to 100% as quickly as possible!!
Oh dear, glad to hear that you are better Jamie. It is so comforting to have family nearby. Liz xx
I am so glad you are ok. It is so sad that we need a bad situation to remind us of what is important.
Wow, Jamie.... that's a God thing. So glad you are okay and you have a great family. Hope you are feeling better!
You are indeed blessed to have such a wonderful family Jamie! I sure hope you are feeling better, AND taking it easy.
What a wonderful family - you're so blessed!
jamie ..how scary that must have been for you and what a joy to know that family is close ..you are blessed... so glad you are OK!!
You are so right...how lucky we are to have a family that loves and supports us in every imaginable way..so glad to hear you are on the mend!
ox
Jeeze, Jaime, what a scary ordeal. I'm glad you are okay. I too have a thing against doctors and asking for help. Your story is a lesson to me!
sounds scary, glad to hear you are feeling better. it's so nice to have family close by...
So frightening! I hope you are feeling all better now. I'm glad you have such a wonderful support system, that is the greatest gift!
