Street Life

2012.04 Istanbul Easter Wknd (29 of 49)
I don't know about you, but I'm struggling to get going today, so while I try and get my life organised for a busy last week at home, here are a few photos I took in Sultanahmet (the old city) in Istanbul. I'm always amazed at how diverse and thriving this area is.

I took this photo, trying to get a good look at the MASSIVE crowd walking down the street - but I took it by holding my camera above my head (the street is a hill so I need the extra height) and didn't zoom in enough, but if you squint you can still see the mass of humanity we had to weave our way through.

A quiet street just outside the grand bazaar, it is quickly becoming my team's go to spot when we are shopping and need to stop for a drink and treat before we continue our bargaining.

How was your weekend? Are you having as hard a time as I am letting go of it today and getting back to work?

I think the best solution for me today is turn Adele on and rock out the morning: Set Fire to the Rain. Pin It

You take the best photos...and make me want to visit Istanbul! Holy smokes, there are so many people on that street...it must have an amazing vibe in person, too.

And yeah. Having a bit of a difficult time getting aorund to all the things I need to do today. I really just want to watch TV and eat. ;)

I love the photos! Busy city streets are one of my favorite subjects in photos. There's just something about seeing the crowd without actually being in it. You're making me want to go visit Istanbul one day...

Wow! That second image conjours up such a story for me about the couple who are almost centre. Wonderful song choice to get Monday moving.

Love these shots Jamie.
So many interesting things to find in them.
Mondays are notoriously tough days, but here today is especially so. Rain and cold with snow expected tomorrow. :-(

It may be crowded, but it looks absolutely fascinating. I would love to visit Istanbul, and before I saw all your photos I wouldn't have know that.

her shop is just behind the sultanahment line 1 tram stop , on a street which runs perpendicular on Divan yulu.. I forgot the name of the street and store !
The shopowner, a nice man, owns an Indian restaurant calle Dubb also in Sultanahmet neaar the Hippodrome

He was extremely nice to us. My son got ill and he had his people in the resto prepare chicken soup for my son !
I am sure he will show you the way to the shop where you find Zeynep. Good hunting.

Love the pictures Jamie! I was looking at the throng of people and wondered if there was more people on the street at that one moment than what there is in my entire little hometown.
