All in the Eyes

I mentioned last week that I'd fallen in love with the new Tintype pak for Hipstamatic - but it wasn't until I got home over the weekend that I finally got to use it the way it was designed - for portraits. It was created to specifically draw attention to the eyes and mouth while blurring everything else. I took a photo of my niece to see how it worked on portraits. I love how it turned out, but she took one look, decided it was freaky and refused to look at it again.

I'm back in Istanbul (let's not discuss the jet lag that comes from spending last week in Australia, the weekend in the US and now a new week in Europe) and I'm already missing my family.

It's all in the details

You'd think by now I would have run out of photos to share from my visit to the Shaker Village - but I saved some of the best for last - all the little details that make this such a fun place to visit.  If you are familiar with Shaker furniture you know its beauty comes from its simplicity, workmanship and functionality.  Just like the furniture, the details that make up Pleasant Hill are beautiful in their simplicity.

Summer

I am officially over winter.
Need proof?

I've been at my parents' house for a few days
I missed the last couple of snow storms at my house
Today was glorious - perfect temp and not a cloud in the sky
So I drove home wearing flip flops
I arrived home to a bit of snow on the driveway
(but just a tiny bit, thanks to my lovely neighbor)
I decided to move it just in case it snows again tomorrow
But, I didn't bother changing shoes

When is the last time you saw someone shovel snow in flip flops?
