A few months ago I complained to my mom about a dark patch of skin under my left eye. I hated looking in the mirror and seeing it. My mom told me that her mother had a similar mark. I won't go so far as saying that I now like having the mark on my face, but I do find myself thinking about my grandma now when I look in the mirror.
Yesterday I shared some memories of my paternal grandpa, sadly I don't have as many memories of my maternal grandma because she passed away while I was still young. But thanks to some quirk of genetics I have a daily reminder of her in my life. I also have the stories my mom, aunts and uncles have shared over the years - I know I share her love of reading, I know she was kind, put others first and loved to laugh.
I know many of you reading also knew grandma Lucy - what do you remember about her, or for those of you who came after she passed, what stories have your parents told you? I'd really like to have a few more memories of her so please share.

It's so werid for me to think about you older cousins actually having memories of her when she was alive and rememebering her phyically being around. I would have loved to have met her. I have always had a special thing for her because my middle name is Lucy and I was the first grandchild born after she died. My mom always talked about how well she could sew, her laugh, and her love for liliac(sp?).
Ah, I could write a book. She did love to laugh, but not to be laughed at. She didn't worry to much over material things, she didn't collect things, but was a great collector of knowledge. Dad said she could carry on a conversation with anyone. She did love to read, she loved her family and was very protective of us. I know she still looks out for us and expects to take care of one another..
My only memory of Grandma Mills, and my earliest memory of my childhood is from the day that she died. I remember her laying on our orange couch in the front room and I remember mom sending me to ShaLeece's house when the ambulance came to get her. I wish I could remember something other than that day.
Hey Jamie, How blessed to have a daily reminder of Mom. Some of my favorite memories are that we always had the family parties at our house. Mom made everyone feel so welcome and was such a great cook. All the relatives loved to be at our house. We were always the gathering place. She always had a candy bar hid some place, and was willing to share. She loved Taco Time Tacos, popcorn balls, tinsel on the Christmas tree, squash, tomatoes right out of the garden, Rodeos, watching baby lambs run, and Perry Mason (an old TV show). When I try and picture her I always see her sitting in the brown rocking chair in front of the window either reading a mystery, that she had sent me to the book mobile to get, or rocking and singing to her grand-babies. She loved her grandkids! She fixed jello salad for every Sunday dinner and if we were lucky, homemade chocolate cake that Pat and I would mix with ice cream the next morning and eat for breakfast. (She went to work early and didn't know!) She would always say things like, "Consider the Source", or "up your brownie" (kinda scared of what that might mean!) Every time I use a zip lock baggie, or my microwave, or watch a DVD I think, "Mom would have loved this." She died at approximately 3:15 am and for months and months after that I would wake up every night at look at my clock and it would be 3:15 am. The biggest regret I have in my life is that the last time I talked to her I didn't tell her I loved her-even though The Spirit told me to 3 different times. (We just didn't do that in the Mills family growing up and I guess I was too embarrassed) The biggest blessing I have in my life is being her daughter. I only heard her share her testimony once but I will never forget the impact it had on me. I learned from her how to be a friend, and how to stand up for myself. But mostly I learned from her to try and to tell and show others I love them in as many different ways possible! Wow, Jamie---thanks for asking for memories of Mom, I sure Love You! You are your Grandma's girl! xoxoxoxxo P
