Seattle

Seattle City View
The first photo is the view of Seattle from the area where I used to live - West Seattle.  The rest are from the famous (for a reason) Pike's Place Market.

Pike's Place Market - Main Sign
I didn't end up taking nearly as many photos as I thought I would.  I found once I got there I was in the mood to experience the city without a camera in my face.  Do you ever have days like that?

Pike Place Market Sign
It just felt that having the camera in my hand meant that I wasn't fully experiencing everything around me - and as much as I wanted the memories the photo would bring, I wanted to feel every bit of being back there more.

Pike's Place Flowers
I had a conversation with a friend last week about doing things solo - for the most part I love it.  I have no problem going to the movie, traveling or even going out to eat solo - but I haven't yet worked up the nerve to go to a concert on my own.  Which stopped me from going to one Saturday night just down the street from my hotel to listen to one of my favorites, Mindy Smith.  I wanted to go, but just couldn't work up the nerve.  What about you - would you be up for a solo concert?

Speaking of concerts - anyone out there, Utah based, and interested in a Ray LaMontagne concert in June?

Here's one of my favorites from Mindy Smith One Moment More

I'm not Utah based, but will be there in June. I'd love details!

Beautiful! Seattle is on my list of places to visit.

I'm impressed with your solo adventures. I'm not much of a solo girl...I wish I was more comfortable doing some things alone!

Wished I knew you would be visiting Seattle....could have met up. It's raining again so glad you got there in the sun.

I think seeing movies alone is about the only thing I like to do solo.

Love those tulips. This video is delightful. Thank you for sharing.

I used to travel solo constantly in my childless days, and I would always find a concert to go to - solo. I don't know why, but I loved the possibilities that this choice offered up. Of course, it was also very nice going with a friend and sharing the experience sometimes.

Lovely photo of the flowers.

I really like the clock on the Public Market Center. and your photos are so colorful and full of life. Years ago I had a real problem doing anything alone, especially eating in public. but now? I don't even give it a second thought. go for it Jamie. and have the time of your life.

Ray LaMontagne!!!! I wish I lived in Utah! Wonderful photos... especially the tulips!

Well, the photos you did take are lovely. I totally understand the feeling of wanting to have the experience, not just be an observer with a camera. I do the same thing, and am usually sorry later that I don't have more photos. It's a tricky balance.
I don't do that much solo, a few things, but I really want to see Ira Glass in person when he comes to St Louis in June, and don't really want to go alone, but I don't know anyone who will go with me. *sigh* I guess I'll go alone if I have to so I don't miss the opportunity.

I love these photos. I bet if you went you would look around and realise how many people are there on their own too! when I lived in Hong Kong I used to go to the cinema on my own and look around and see all the other people there on their own too! very jealous of you seeing Ray!

I DO have days like that; when I feel that I should see things without the lense in front of my eyes. It doesn´t happen often though..! :-D

Love the pics, hope to see Seattle one day. :-)

Wow - look at those beautiful tulips! I went to a Shakespeare play at the Globe Theatre on my own a couple of years ago and would happily do so again - it's not quite the same as a concert though. I find the reason I most often don't have a camera to my eye ifI'm out and about is because my husband is with me and he gets fed up with having to keep stopping to wait!!

It looks lovely. I understand what you mean about not always wanting to snap away, sometimes just photographing with the eyes is enough. I think the older I get the more things I don't mind doing solo. It's a shame you didn't go to the concert. Liz xx

I'm hopeless at doing things by myself, I'm getting better and now don't mind eating out alone but not sure if I could manage a concert

Beautiful photos. It's been years since I've been to Seattle. I lived alone in a big city the year I got my masters. I learned to do pretty much everything solo, but interestingly it's movies I don't like to go to alone. I rarely do it. Concerts don't bother me as much. Odd.

Oh just look at those flowers! Tulips are my favourites.

Oh I love Seattle! These photos are beautiful! I love the one of all the gorgeous flowers especially. My Dad played football for University of Washington, so we have always had a special place for Seattle in our hearts. Your pictures are making me want to visit again soon :) Hugs xx

What wonderful impressions of Seattle, Jamie! I don't mind being alone but what I don't like is going out eating alone and I've never been to a concert alone, either. Maybe it's just worth a try?!

Pike Place Market is such a wonderful, picturesque place! My friend brought us there the last time we visited. Your tulip capture is just what my color-starved eyes needed today!
I love to do things alone as well is with friends. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. I guess a concert is something I have never done solo, though.

I went to Seattle once, when I was younger. Too young to know about the Pike Place Market, unfortunately. Now if I go back, its one of my first stops!

Loved Pike's Place when I visited there, and hope to do so again someday!
I have a more difficult time going out to eat solo than I think I would have going to a concert solo.

Beautiful song Jamie!

Seattle is a place I'd love to visit some day, love your shots of the market, especially those tulips!
I think I could go to a concert on my own, although I never have. It's eating out in restaurants I'd struggle with...maybe it would be ok if I could bring a book.

I know the feeling. Sometimes the camera puts distance between you and the experience itself. Love the images you did choose to capture!

I have never been to Seattle. Like to check it out one day. The tulips are gorgeous!

Beautiful photos! looks like a great place, I have always wanted to visit Seattle. One day when I do I will make sure to stop here :) I think it would be hard to go to a concert alone. I would love if I could, but I am sure I would have to work up the courage too.

I love visiting Seattle and Portland. That area calls to me. I wonder if, some day, I will answer?

I love these shots of Seattle. I've never been to the area-and it has such great acclaim. Love that market sign.
