A few weeks ago Clare posted an amazing video, How to be Alone, on her blog. In random moments I find myself thinking about it, how beautiful it was and how proud I am to say that I've managed to accomplish most of the suggestions found in it.
Don't get me wrong, I love being with people. I enjoy meeting people and the conversations you have with people you've known for years and those you have with people you meet in line at the grocery store. But there are times when being alone is a glorious gift. I still need to work up the courage to go dancing alone, but it doesn't sound completely impossible after watching this a few time.
Do you enjoy alone time? Have you ever dared the movie theatre on your own? A cafe?

I enjoyed the youtube video How To Be Alone. Thanks for sharing. I'm married but do movies alone. Some never learn that to be alone is not always being lonely. I like alone time; sometimes.
My sister does it quite a lot as she is not married and doesn't have kids and I know it is something she really enjoys.
There are days where I long for alone time!
i saw the "alone" video a couple of weeks ago and thought about posting it. i am glad you shared it--it's really beautiful!
Hey Jamie-
I'm glad you posted this...I saw it on Clare's blog, but didn't watch it....it was like a 2nd chance or a hint that I should.
I live alone, but I'm not lonely. I enjoy people, but do not shy away from alone time...it offers many gifts. Movie, cafe, library...haven't been dancing yet, but there's still time.
Hope your alone time is happy time too.
Susan
being alone can feel wonderful.
What a beautiful video :)
I love being alone, and I loved the video too. It was really beautiful.
I am an only child, work alone, turn off the radio when I get in the car, and tend to be a homebody. The key to it my happiness is to be alone without being lonely. I am quite content with the thoughts in my head. :)
hi Jamie,
the video "How To Be Alone"...
...is G E N I A L !!!.
Have a nice day
I actually first saw the Alone video during a weekend when I went away all by myself sans enfants. Love it! I love my family, but I miss generous allotments of alone time.
a wee something for you over at my place

my mother was very good at working quietly alone and i've learned from her. but, i think i can only do it knowing scott will be home at the end of the day. i have a hard time going out by myself and feel a bit lost on my own, but i will do it. i loved the video. enjoy your weekend!
I spend more time alone than with people and it suits me just fine. that is what I like. I grew up on a large farm, with no neighborhood of other kids to play with, so my imagination was lively and my "go-to" spot for entertainment. I had no children either and I think that makes a huge difference. so yeah, I'm alone but never ever lonely.
just watched the video, it's so good and so true. I am a loner and sometimes I forget it's ok to be one.
i saw this video on another blog and was struck by it..i am enjoying your space here
