I'm amazed at how hard it was to get back on tack with the weekly challenge after missing a week. I struggled to come up with a concept, nothing seemed right. So at work yesterday I wandered around the office looking for anything shapely, figuring I would grab some quick photos at lunch. I'm not blown away by anything I captured, but I loved the discipline it took to keep working at it, trying different items, different angles and later different processing.
I think a big part of challenges isn't to come up with something perfect every time, but to keep trying. To experiment - and sometimes to fail. I feel comfortable at work talking about how some of the most important lessons I've every learned are because I've made a mistake - but why is it when it comes to being creative those mistakes and failures seem so much more personal? My goal - to go a bit easier on myself and just keep trying, how else am I going to improve.
That being said - her is my take at this week's prompt - shapely:

The Sunday Creative - Shapely
Heard this band, Atomic Toxic Event, on the radio this morning - and thought they sounded new and fresh, have you heard of them yet? I think after a day or two spent with more mellow music I needed something a little strong to kick off the weekend.
Thank you all for your support and kind words on my guest posting gig, it was so much fun!

I think these are wonderful!
And the real accomplishment is in the trying, no?
So YAY!
(PS - please send me that bowl at your earliest convenience kthnx)
i think they are good for shapely! and you are right, we are way too hard on ourselves to find the perfect thing. we would all be better off to relax and make a few mistakes along the way.
very good for the prompt, nice blog too
I think it is great that you are throwing yourself back into things and making life the shape you want it - that is the hardest thing to do and you are doing it really well - Boxes to store your memories of past present and future, horse to let your spirit and laughter run free again and a bowl to catch special tears. xo
Those look pretty shapely to me! I think you always do a great job and who says there is a right answer? I don't think you failed!
i like your images very much, particularly the set on the right side. and yes, try not to be too hard on yourself because creativity, like all things has it's own ebb and flow. i need to do the same thing.
i would recommend the book 'letting go of the camera' by brooks jensen and think you would get a lot out of if as you delve more into photography. it's not a technical book, but one about what it's like to be a photographer or any type of artist really.
Love this!!
